Our Mission
Welcome to Clearstone,
We have made it our mission to supply artisan quality items made locally by hand in an environmentally sustainable way, with this in mind, what's good for the planet is good for you.
Our Core
We aim to be a climate positive company and continually give back more than we consume. We will plant either 5 trees or remove 1Kg of ocean plastic for every single item ordered, this is called climate positivity and is what we hope in the future will be the norm.
The government has pledged a 68% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the end of the decade compared to 1990, with an aim for a cut to zero by 2050. It is our aim to help us all do the best we can to achieve this. We believe that everyone can made a difference and even the smallest of changes can make a positive impact to our planet.
Standards
We individually package every item by hand with care and attention to detail. Every product is carefully assessed for its ethical manufacturing, sustainable production and ingredients to assure our customers do not get an inferior or non-sustainable product.
We can guarantee these qualities and as a result we can offer free returns because we know you will be satisfied with the quality and service you deserve
Why do we care?
-
Currently 9 million tons of plastic are thrown in the ocean annually, this equals one waste truck of plastic dumped in the sea, every minute of every day!
-
50% of all plastic produced is for single use purposes. A plastic bag has an average ‘working life’ of 15 minutes.
-
Plastic rubbish resembles food to many sea creatures. Sea turtles confuse plastic bags with Jellyfish. 90% of marine birds are estimated to have plastic in their stomachs.
-
In 2019 a dead whale was found with 40 kilos of plastic waste in its stomach.
-
A plastic bottle takes 100-300 years to fragment but never truly goes away, these minuscule fibres are everywhere.
-
Plastic is polluting every corner of the planet. With 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption now containing plastic, we are indirectly consuming plastic. Sea water plastic absorbs chemicals like DDT’s and PCB’s which have been linked to endocrine disruption and even some cancers.
-
By 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish.
